Placement drives see record offers at IITs, renumeration up significantly

Almost all the IITs saw more students getting offers to the tune of Rs 1-2Cr, indicative of the war for tech talent that continues to rage at the moment

In what could be seen as a testament to the high demand for tech talent across industries this year, India’s premier tech colleges, the IITs, have recorded 2021 as the best year for placements.

Freshers graduating from the top-tier colleges have seen a record number of placements this year. The average placement salaries have also gone up significantly. 

For IIT-Bombay, the number of graduates bagging job offers on campus stood at 1,723, coming from 315 companies, in the first phase of the placement. The institute released a statement saying that this was an all-time record for placement in the first phase.

Seven students are reported to have received offers above Rs 1 crore from international companies, while five received a similar package from domestic organisations. The highest domestic package offered was of Rs 1.68 crores and the highest international CTC was to the tune of Rs 2.16 crores per annum. 

For IIT-Delhi, the first day of the placement drive itself witnessed about 60 offers above Rs 1 crore. The institute discloses that 1,250  jobs were grabbed by its students in the first two weeks of the placement drive. 

IIT-Kanpur also witnessed a record number of offers, totalling 1,300. The highest package crossed Rs 2 crores this year. The institute has witnessed a jump of 150 per cent in the number of offers.
