The Government of Telangana has introduced an insurance scheme worth Rs 1 crore for the employees of the Electricity Department of the state. The scheme was announced by Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, who handed over a cheque for one crore to the family of an electricity worker who had died while on duty. In addition to the insurance amount, the wife of the deceased employee was given a job in the Electricity Department, on compassionate grounds.

The move is a way of offering security to workers in the Department.

It is reported that there would be some good news for Telangana government employees, with welfare measures likely to be announced on 2 June 2025. One of the pending instalments of dearness allowance (DA) may be released on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day.

There is a likelihood of other pending dues being cleared too, which includes retirement benefits. A new health scheme for staff is likely to be announced. Details pertaining to the health scheme, and exactly how much of the pending dues will be cleared is yet to be shared officially. How long it will take for the additional DA instalments is not known either.

Considering that discussions have been on between employee unions and government officials, details should be out soon.
