Mobile Premier League (MPL), an esports and digital gaming platform, has introduced a new paid leave programme for employees. Called ‘Zen Leave,’ this initiative allows employees to temporarily disable access to work applications such as Google Suite, Slack and other IT tools.
The move is aimed at enhancing employee wellbeing, effectively helping them disconnect from work.
The programme offers employees the flexibility to personalise their time away from work. They can opt for multiple Zen leaves throughout the year, spread out their off-days for shorter breaks, or combine them with existing vacation days for longer periods of rest. Zen Leave aims to empower employees to focus on personal priorities, recharge, and spend quality time with loved ones without the anxiety of work-related interruptions, according to the company’s statement.
Zen Leave also permits employees to avoid work-related phone calls and WhatsApp messages during their paid leave. The programme is available to all MPL employees, regardless of their seniority or role.
Currently employing about 350 people, MPL aims to support its staff in fully unplugging during their time off.
The company highlighted the common issue of employees checking work emails and notifications even while on vacation. Zen Leave is designed to encourage employees to switch off completely, ensuring they can decompress, prioritise their wellbeing and return to work feeling refreshed.
