Jobs can be quite monotonous and strenuous. Companies always strive to break this monotony and at times even small efforts turn out to be quite impactful.
On April 29, the occasion of International Dance Day, Swiggy created a video with its employees where they created a wave of different dance moves.
The whole event turned out to be participative and depicted a happy culture at Swiggy.
The video was shot at Swiggy’s Bengaluru office.
HRKatha decided to delve deeper and dig out the intention behind this initiative.
Madhav Vamsi, who heads culture and talent at Swiggy shares that the whole idea of celebrating and organising the dance performance was conceptualised by the employees themselves.

“The members of this community just wanted to celebrate International Dance Day and that was their way of saying we love dancing”
The employees of this food delivery company had recently formed a dance community within the company which is known as Dab-a-holic and the video was created by the people who are part of this community to celebrate international dance day and tell the world how much they love dancing.
The track for the video was also selected and conceptualised very intelligently. The song which was used for the video was ‘Can’t stop the feeling’ a 2016 hit song by Justin Timberlake. The official video of the song also features employees from different walks and ages of life taking a break from their busy schedule and live their desire to dance.
“The dance community is part of a larger community initiative for employees at Swiggy, which we call as ‘Tastes of Swiggy’,” says Vamsi.
“The members of this community just wanted to celebrate International Dance Day and that was their way of saying ‘we love dancing’,” he adds.
International dance day is observed as the birth anniversary of Jean Noverre who was the creator of modern ballet. The international dance day was created by the dance committee of international theatre institute a partner of UNESCO.
