The Odisha government, led by Chief Miinister Mohan Charan Majhi, has announced an increase in the additional casual leave granted to women employees of the state government, raising it to 12 days per year.
This adjustment aims to provide enhanced support to the women in the workforce, particularly during their menstruation period.
Under the revised policy, women employees can utilise these 12 additional casual leave days, at the rate of one day per month. Furthermore, they are also entitled to the existing 10 days of regular Casual Leave (CL) and five days of Special Casual Leave (SCL), which are already available to them. This brings the total number of leave days specifically allocated for female employees to 27 days in a year.
Previously, women were entitled to 10 days of additional casual leave. However, the decision to increase the leaves reflects the government’s recognition of the unique challenges faced by women in the workplace.
The revised leave policy also aims to further accommodate their health and well-being, while supporting a more inclusive and supportive work environment.
This directive by the Chief Minister underscores the administration’s ongoing efforts to address gender-sensitive workplace needs. Furthermore, it will ensure that women employees have the flexibility to manage their professional and personal responsibilities more effectively.
