Do Indian professionals fear artificial intelligence (AI)? Doesn’t really seem so. According to a Randstad report, around one in two workers in India are already using AI at work daily or regularly. The maximum users are members of Gen Z, for 60 per cent of the cohort is already using it. Most Indian workers are prepared to see some impact of AI on their job. What is heartening is that the majority expect the influence of AI on their work to be positive. Only about eight per cent fear a negative impact on their work. Surprisingly, Gen Z (12 per cent) is more negative than other generations about the impact that AI may have on their jobs.

Six per cent of the respondents of the Randstad survey said they expect to lose their job to AI, while 16 per cent are already experiencing an impact of AI on their jobs. A significant 40 per cent said there would be a considerable impact of AI on their job, while 26 per cent expect very little impact. There is a small portion that expects no impact of AI on their jobs, while two per cent do not know if there will be any effect.

Of those who are seeing an impact of AI on their job, more than half (56 per cent) admitted to a positive impact on job satisfaction, while 34 per cent said the impact was neutral. Eight per cent admitted to a negative impact on job satisfaction.

Clearly, a majority of workers out of the nearly 3507 respondents in India expect AI to have at least some impact on their job, and most feel the effect will be positive.
