Johnson & Johnson India (J&J) showed its undying support to the LGBTQ+ community on the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOTB), which celebrates sexual and gender diversities across the globe. The Company launched Open&Out, its new voluntary employee-led resource group. The Group comprises open minded and progressive staff members who care to support and do their bit for LGBTQ professionals and their friends within Johnson & Johnson.

Through Open&Out, the Company wishes to convey and affirm that it supports the LGBTQ community, believes its members to be equal and welcomes them into its workplace, with the promise of a safe, integrated and sensitised working environment.

This is also J&J India’s way of showing its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Globally, there are about 12 employee-resource groups or ERGs that share their interests and experience and together work towards creating value for all employees at J&J.

On the occasion, J&J played host to bestselling author, Devdutt Pattanaik, who discussed inclusion through the centuries, and enlightened his more than 200 strong audience on the history of LGBTQ, as revealed by ancient Indian scriptures and mythology.

He drove home the significance of ‘allies’ and a safe and inclusive workplace for members of the LGBTQ+ and their colleagues.

Employees of J&J India also painted themselves in rainbow colours and waved pride flags reinforcing the tagline, ‘Together we care with Pride’.

Not long ago, J&J India actively participated in the Queer Azaadi Mumbai (QAM) Pride March also, displaying its full support to the LGBTQ+ community of the country.
