SBI General Insurance bats for inclusion, brings women back to work

The general insurance company’s #BringingWomenBackToWork initiative aims to hire women desirous of resuming their careers after a break

SBI General Insurance, the Indian general insurance company, has taken a step in the right direction to try and encourage women who wish to resume their careers after a break. As part of its diversity & inclusion (D&I) agenda, it has launched the #BringingWomenBackToWork programme, under which it will hire women desirous of rebuilding their careers after having to put them on hold due to family commitments or other reasons.

Shharad Dhakkate, CHRO, SBI General Insurance, believes that this programme will “create opportunities as well as enable us to augment our workforce and grow from strength to strength”. In his own words, “At SBI General, we believe that our talent pool is the backbone of the Company.

“With the #BringingWomenBackToWork initiative, we aim to provide women a platform to facilitate their journey towards their career goals which they may have put on hold for various reasons.”

The Company has been overwhelmed by the response. It received over 200 applications in response to its social media campaign #BringingWomenBackToWork.

Ever since its establishment in 2009, SBI General Insurance is committed to carrying forward the legacy of trust and security. From 17 branches in 2011, it now boasts of 123 branches pan-India.

Its distribution family includes over 22,900 IRDAI certified advisors including the State Bank Group employees, and over 12,000 agents to make insurance easily available even in the remote areas of the country.
