Job fairs are taking place across Punjab giving hope to thousands of aspirants. The mega job fair organised by the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprise (DBEE), Ludhiana, saw participation from 50 companies and at least 1,542 youth.
The fair that was organised at the SRS Government Polytechnic College for Girls, Ludhiana, on September 16, under the Ghar Ghar Rozgar scheme, saw about 1,272 youth bagging job opportunities.
Amongst the big names that participated were Flipkart, JustDial, SBI, ICICI, LIC, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, and Star Health Insurance. The next job fair is taking place today, September 17, at the Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU).
Earlier, two days ago, a similar fair was organised at Rayat Bahra University, Mohali, which saw participation from over 750 candidates. Among the employers that participated were big names such as Reliance, HDFC, Tata AIG, Puma Source, Kotak Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Pukhraj, Zomato and HCL. While about 516 candidates received offers, 41 were selected for skill training and 52 found self-employment opportunities.
Elsewhere in Punjab, on September 14, a job fair was organised at Dasuya, Hoshiarpur, as part of the 7th State Level Mega Employment Fair, by the DBEE, at Cambridge International School. This was also part of the door-to-door employment drive of the Punjab government. As many as 1,022 candidates were offered jobs, while 49 candidates were shortlisted. More than 1,700 job seekers from Dasuya, Mukerian, Tanda, Talwara, Hajipur and nearby areas flocked to the fair.
