Before Diwali, the permanent, contractual, as well as daily wage staff working for the Madhya Pradesh government will receive advance bonus for November 2020 to March 2021 period. However, only the employees whose salary is Rs 40,000 or less will be able to avail this bonus.
The state government has decided to clear all arrears under the 7th Pay Commission. A notification has been issued to this effect and 25 per cent amount of the third and last instalment of arrears of the state government staff will be disbursed this month itself.
This advance and clearance of arrears will place a financial burden of Rs 400 crore on the state treasury.
The government employees of Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh have already received the good news regarding salary increments ahead of the festive season.
In Tamil Nadu, the state government has announced a Diwali bonus for about 291,000 government employees. The same will cost the state government about Rs 210.48 crore. All public-sector undertaking will get Diwali bonus of 8.33 per cent. An additional 1.67 per cent ex-gratia will also be provided.
Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh government had announced that almost 14,82,187 state government employees will receive bonus equivalent to 30-day’s wages. The same will put a financial burden of about Rs 1,023 crore on the state exchequer. Each employee will receive Rs 6,908, of which 75 per cent will go as contribution to their provident fund accounts, while the remaning will be paid as cash.
