The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Employees’ Union has called on the corporation to withdraw its recent notification. The notification permits the reappointment of retired clerical staff on an outsourcing basis to fill vacancies across all depots and units in the state.
Union leaders highlighted that many eligible employees have not received promotions for over five years. As a result, several employees retired without career advancement. This long-standing issue has created frustration among staff awaiting their due promotions.
The union expressed deep concern over the decision to bring back retired staff for these positions. They believe it denies existing employees the chance for promotion and career growth. Higher-level officials are promoted based on seniority, but lower-level employees face significant delays, the union noted.
Instead of resolving these promotion delays, the management is filling vacancies with retired personnel, which the union does not favour.
The union leaders demanded an immediate withdrawal of the notification and urged the corporation to take steps to ensure fair promotion practices for all employees.
