CARS24 has launched a new leave policy called “Flow Time-Out Leave” to create a more inclusive workplace environment. This initiative allows women employees, including transgender individuals, to take a day off during their menstrual period without needing approval or facing any questions.
The policy aims to recognise and support the health and well-being of those who experience menstruation, acknowledging that the pain associated with menstrual cramps can be intense and disruptive to daily activities.
The decision to introduce this policy followed an experience where male colleagues, including senior management, participated in a period pain simulation exercise at the Gurgaon office. The exercise resulted in a better understanding of the severe discomfort many face during menstruation. As a result, the company decided to offer this supportive measure, allowing affected employees to take the necessary time to recover without feeling compelled to work through pain to demonstrate commitment.
CARS24 emphasises that this initiative is not only a new policy but also a step towards creating a workplace that respects and values the unique challenges faced by its female and transgender employees. The company has encouraged its male team members to be understanding and supportive when colleagues choose to use the “Flow Time-Out Leave.”
Furthermore, CARS24 has encouraged employees to report any harassment or inappropriate comments related to the use of this leave. They have provided a specific email address, speakup@cars24.com, for reporting such incidents, and assured swift action by the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) team against any misconduct.
In addition to this initiative, CARS24 has acknowledged that only 15 per cent of its workforce is currently female. The company aims to significantly increase female representation over the next few years, furthering its commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
