About six lakh employees of the Rajasthan government will enjoy ad-hoc bonuses on Diwali, as approved by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. The payout will cost the state treasury about Rs 500 crore. Staff members of Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishads will also be eligible for this bonus.
Meanwhile, down south, the Tamil Nadu government has also announced a Diwali bonus for employees of grades C and D, working for public-sector undertakings or PSU. These bonuses and ex-gratia payments will benefit about 2.75 lakh employees employed at PSUs and statutory boards across the state. The financial burden on the state treasury would be about Rs 369.50 crore.
It is reported that eligible staff members of Tangedco, various state transport corporations and the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation will receive a bonus of 8.33 per cent and an ex-gratia payment of 11.67 per cent. Employees of profit-making PSUs will be paid 20 per cent Diwali bonus, that is, a bonus of 8.33 per cent and an ex-gratia of 11.67 per cent. Staff members of PSUs that are not making profits will get a bonus of 8.33 per cent and an ex-gratia of 1.67 per cent.
Employees of the groups C and D cadres of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board and the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board will be paid 8.33 per cent bonus plus 1.67 per cent ex-gratia. The employees of the groups C and D of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board will earn a bonus of 8.33 per cent, while the contract staff of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation will be paid an ex-gratia of Rs 3,000. Permanent staff members may be paid a bonus in the range of Rs 8,400 to Rs 16,800.
