Here is an airline that is giving its employees a pay raise to combat the rising inflation and cost of living. Emirates Airline Group is increasing various allowances for its employees and also granting them a five per cent increase in their basic salaries with effect from 1 July 2023. That is not all, they will also see a hike in education support allowance starting September, as reported by The National.

The employees who are Emirati citizens will see a hike in special allowances. The details of their revised basic salary and fixed allowances will be published along with their contractual amendment message on 21 July. The increments for the employees outside Dubai will be based on the cost of living at the base location of the employees. That means, fixed allowances will be altered according to the local market conditions.

The airline had assigned a budget of $2.9 billion towards bonus payments for its 50,000+ employees. The staff received 24 weeks of pay along with their May salary following the record yearly profit posted by the airline.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dubai-based Emirates and Abu Dhabi-based Etihad are amongst the world’s best airlines for 2023, as per the latest rankings. While Emirates ranks fourth, Japan Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Air France, Cathay Pacific, Taiwan’s EVA Air and Korean Air follow in that order in the list of top 10. Emirates and Etihad had also been ranked among the safest full-service airlines, globally.
