DK Goel, chairman, FIITJEE, is under fire after a video of him verbally abusing an employee during an official online meeting went viral. The incident occurred during a virtual session with centre heads when an employee from the Thane branch questioned the company’s recent investment of Rs 142 crore.
In the video, Goel’s response to the question quickly escalated into an angry tirade. His language turned abusive, targeting not only the employee but also the employee’s mother. He used expletives, derogatory remarks, and personal attacks, going as far as to question the employee’s parentage. Attempts by another attendee to calm him only fuelled his anger further.
Goel’s comments included insults such as calling the employee “useless” and issuing threats to remove the individual from Mumbai. The highly offensive remarks he made about the employee’s family have drawn widespread condemnation.
The controversy comes amid reports that FIITJEE has not paid teachers’ salaries since February 2023. Initially, the company assured employees that payments would resume once it achieved financial stability. However, teachers were later blamed for the company’s poor performance. FIITJEE allegedly warned them against leaving, threatening financial penalties for perceived damages.
The video’s circulation has triggered a wave of criticism on social media. Netizens have condemned Goel’s behaviour as toxic and unprofessional. Many expressed shock at the abuse directed at the employee’s family, calling it a new low in workplace indecency.
Users highlighted the company’s alleged mistreatment of staff, with some sharing personal experiences of delayed salaries and hostile work conditions. The backlash has cast a harsh spotlight on FIITJEE’s internal culture and its leadership practices.
As outrage grows, the incident has raised broader questions about workplace ethics and leadership accountability. Many are calling for immediate action against Goel and better protection for employees subjected to such treatment.
