Frustrated employee vents about toxicity, being micromanaged

The miserable employee was asked to mark his attendance twice and log out only at the scheduled time of shift closure, not earlier

What if an employee finishes their work a few minutes before their shift ends? They should be allowed to leave, right? Under normal circumstances that is what is expected but a frustrated employee recently shared his experience on Reddit when he was stopped from leaving a few minutes before his shift ended.
The said employee expressed his frustration on being micromanaged by the HR of his company. It was bad enough that the company required employees to mark their attendance twice—once through an app introduced for this very purpose and for tracking their movements, and then again via WhatsApp—and now they were being pulled up for logging out a few minutes before time.
The disgruntled employee was ready to give up his job and move on because of the unnecessary control the company had over the employees and their time. The employee called the work culture toxic. Interestingly, though he worked for a US-based firm, he was recently required to report to an Indian HR for shifts.
Does that mean Indian workplaces are used to such levels of micromanagement and unreasonable ridigity?
Although the employee is ready to move on immediately, he cannot do so since he has no other job in hand. His post seeking to know whether such a work culture is normal, reflected his helplessness and frustration.
In response, some users shared their own experiences with toxic work cultures and rigid HR policies, with one even admitting that he missed rigid and controlled work hours in this flexi-work era. One user suggested adhering to the exact shift timings without putting in even a minute extra. Many held Boomers and Millennials responsible for such toxic work cultures and disapproved of them calling Gen Z lazy.
