Meta employees have begun returning to office. The employees at the parent company of social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Trends will now be required to come to the office thrice a week.
The employees were formally notified of this mandate through an email sent by the human resources department. The tech giant has reportedly informed its workforce that failure to adhere to this mandate could lead to job termination.
This return-to-office directive does not impact employees who had previously been granted approval for full-time remote work.
Meta had adopted a firm stance regarding the return-to-office requirement. Earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Meta, stated that employees working from traditional office spaces generally exhibit better performance than those working remotely from their homes. In June, the company started informing its employees about the impending implementation of a return-to-office (RTO) requirement. Now, this mandate has reportedly been fully put into action.
However, the company still advocates its faith in the continued importance of remote work, particularly as technology continues to evolve. Therefore, Meta is also carefully evaluating and planning its investments in remote-work initiatives.
Recently Amazon has also announced a work-from- office mandate where the employees have been asked to be physically present in the office thrice a week. The decision is for all of their staff, that is, the existing ones and the fresh hires. Furthermore, in a statement to the media, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy shared how the company believes that having employees physically present in the office promotes learning and bolsters the company’s culture.
