Online ads in Russia to recruit soldiers for Putin’s forces in Ukraine are offering salaries several times higher than the national average. As per a media report, this is one of the reasons why Russia is experiencing significant military losses even after President Vladimir Putin declared a partial mobilisation in September when the country enlisted 300,000 troops.
As per the inputs from the Foundation of Ukrainian War Victims, it analysed data that demonstrated the enormous amounts of money being offered to new recruits. Reportedly, there are enough people who are willing to join as well.
It is said that Moscow has been striving to increase the number of troops in recent months and recruiters are intensifying their efforts to attract people. A report by a local NGO also stated that the national average salary in Russia in February was approximately 63,000 roubles ($827), although it varies by region.
Furthermore, it is also stated that following the complete invasion, positions directly related to the war are offering an average salary of 300,000 roubles ($3,941). The ads were advertising one-time payments of up to 450,000 roubles ($5,900), as well as a monthly salary of 400,000 roubles ($5,100).
The study also throws light on the ways the Russian government is attempting to recruit soldiers. The NGO examined 5,874 distinct job openings published by Russian state accounts for military units recruiting troops on the job website HeadHunter.ru. The study discovered that on August 26, there were approximately 2,400 vacancies.
