Elon Musk has reportedly shot off an email to Tesla employees asking them to come back to office, as remote work is no longer an option.
The CEO of Tesla is done with his employees working from home and wants them to return to regular work-from-office soon. According to reports, the billionaire has made it clear that work-from-home is no longer acceptable at Tesla. He has warned that those who wish to work from home or are unwilling to return to office must put in at least 40 hours a week in person in the office or leave Tesla.
The employees will have to be physically present in a main Tesla office and not any of its remote branch offices to be considered as present and working. He has indicated that the ‘return to office’ means actually returning to work where the employees were appointed and where their responsibilities lie, and not any other temporary / remote office.
In the official email, that carried the subject line, “Remote work is no longer acceptable”, Musk writes, “anyone who wishes to do remote work must be in the office for a minimum (and I mean *minimum*) of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla.”
Musk has also indicated that the senior managers are expected to be more responsible and accountable, and hence, should be more visible in the office, so that they can inspire the subordinates to work hard and be more productive.
