Bishop Fox, an American cybersecurity company, terminated 13 per cent of its staff shortly after organising an extravagant party at an international conference. While layoffs have become common news of late, the fact that this company laid off its employees almost immediately after a celebration where it treated them to fancy food and drinks, sounds bizarre. About 50 employees have been impacted by the decision.

As reported by TechCrunch, the company hosted a grand party at the RSA Cybersecurity Conference in the US. The event was attended by employees, people from the industry, and other participants and featured drinks with the ‘Bishop Fox’ logo. It is reported that the company made the layoff announcement just a week after the party.

Naturally, the employees were taken by surprise, as nobody had seen this coming after what many of them had referred to as a “fun” night while posting pictures from the party on social media.

A week after the party, employees of the company were looking for job opportunities, having been terminated.

These layoffs, which are part of a restructuring exercise, will help the company maintain its robust financial standing.

According to Vinnie Liu, CEO, Bishop Fox, the layoffs are in response to global macroeconomic conditions and this restructuring will help make the business more efficient. Liu also conveyed that despite the current market uncertainties, the company’s growth remains stable and it expects more technology investments over the coming years.

As per Liu, the cash reserves of the company and the funds it raised, combined with this move to trim the workforce, will enable Bishop Fox to maintain a comfortable financial position and continue to provide high-quality solutions to their customers.
