The Government of Haryana has decided to set aside 10 per cent seats in the police department and the forest department for Agniveers.

Henceforth, there will be 10 per cent horizontal reservation for Agniveers when it comes to direct recruitment of constables, mining guards, forest guards, jail wardens and special police officers or SPOs.

Chief minister Nayab Saini announced the quota to benefit the youth who complete their four-year training in the Army under the Agnipath Scheme that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had implemented on 14 June, 2022.

A relaxation of three years in age will be provided to Agniveers recruited for Group-B and Group-C posts. The first batch of Agniveers, however, will get a relaxation of five years in age for these posts.

When it comes to Group-C direct recruitments for civil posts, Agniveers will enjoy five per cent horizontal reservation and for Group B posts, they will get one per cent horizontal reservation.

Additionally, private establishments that hire Agniveers against a salary of at least Rs 30,000 per month will enjoy a subsidy of Rs 60,000 per year.

The Chief Minister referred to this as an ‘employment guarantee scheme’ for Agniveers.

Agniveers choosing to launch their own business will be able to avail interest benefit on the loans of up to Rs 5 lakhs.

Agniveers will also get arms licences on priority. Similarly, priority will also be given to those Agniveers who wish to take up jobs in the state government.

Meanwhile, Krystal, a facilities-management firm, has expressed willingness to employ Agniveers after their short-term training with the defence services concludes.
