There seems to be some relief for job seekers amidst the pandemic. As per data collected from the official pages of organisations on LinkedIn, and direct postings on job boards, more than 200,000 vacancies have been advertised by companies in the past four weeks. In fact, over 25 per cent of these were posted in the second week of April alone.

The organic posts on LinkedIn show that online grocery store, BigBasket, is gearing to hiring more than 10,000 people for its warehouses and for its delivery team. With the lockdown situation, it has experienced a spike in online orders, with people choosing to order from the comfort of their homes. This has put pressure on its logistics channel. Indian online grocery delivery service, Grofers, is also planning to expand its workforce by 5,000 over the next couple of weeks, to be able to keep up with the increase in demand.

InterviewBit is also looking for talent to fill vacancies of senior engineers, operations leaders, sales leaders and brand marketing roles. In general, there appears to be a demand for freshers, that is for entry-level roles, as well as for junior and mid-senior level positions in the market.

With the lockdown resulting in increased reliance on digital content, and with schools and educational institutions increasingly opting for the online method of delivering lessons, hiring is expected to rise in the digital learning space too.
