Capgemini is gearing up to expand its already over one-lakh strong India workforce by hiring 30,000 more people this year. The French multinational technology company, which also provides professional and outsourcing services, will be hiring freshers as well as experienced people.

More than half of the Company’s global employee base is in India, which proves how significant a role its India workforce plays in its global business.

Taking advantage of the learning ability of the youngsters in its workforce, who are keen to acquire new skills and grow, the Company is concentrating on reskilling its employees to make them future ready. A significant 65 per cent of its India workforce comprises those under the age of 30. Capgemini is also offering special programmes for the mid-level managers who possess 10 to 15 years of experience and are keen to upskill and move on to project management and architectural roles.

In preparation for the expansion, the Company has created space at its centres over the last two years. Its largest development centre is at Airoli, near Mumbai.

Unlike other similar companies, Capgemini does not believe in investing in research and development or creating new products or putting money into startups. Instead, it prefers to focus on customer-specific improvements and collaborating with startups on important technologies.

The Company has not undergone any restructuring nor has there been any involuntary attrition except for the usual exits owing to non-performance.
