Samsung will recruit over 1,000 engineering graduates for its R&D centres

The hiring will begin from December 1, 2018; Samsung has already offered 350 pre-placement offers (PPOs) to students at the IITs in 2018.

Samsung India will be hiring more than a thousand graduates from the country’s top-ranking engineering colleges. Over 300 of these are expected to be recruited from various IITs, including that of Delhi, Kanpur, Mumbai, Chennai, Kharagpur, Guwahati, BHU and Roorkie.

The newer IITs of Hyderabad, Ropar, Patna, Dhanbad, Indore, Mandi, Joshpur, Gandhinagar and Bhubaneshwar will also be targeted for recruitment, in addition to institutions, such as NITs, Delhi Technological University (DTU), BITS Pilani, Manipal Institute of Technology and IISC, Bengaluru.

The new recruits will be working on artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT, natural language processing, camera technology and 5G networks.

In 2017, Samsung had revealed its plans to recruit 2500 engineers over a period of three years, for its research and development operations. The Company had invested US$15 billion on research last year. Earlier, this year, the Company had announced its intention to invest US$22 million on artificial intelligence, 5G, automotive electronics components, biopharmaceuticals and other emerging technologies.

Samsung has already offered 350 pre-placement offers (PPOs) to students at the IITs this year. The Company has also extended the internship period to give the students enough time to interact with the senior executives of the organisation. This also gives the Company an opportunity to identify the best talent from amongst the interns.
