Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has entered into a new agreement with the Tamil Nadu government to offer a tailored salary package for state government employees. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 19 May, 2025, marking a significant step in the public-sector banking partnerships.

Under the Tamil Nadu State Government Salary Package (SGSP), IOB will provide a comprehensive suite of financial benefits to government staff. The package includes several exclusive features aimed at improving financial security and access to banking services for employees.

One of the key highlights is a Personal Accident Insurance cover of up to Rs 1.2 crore. In addition, the package offers a Group Term Life Insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh. Employees will also benefit from zero minimum balance requirements and free ATM card issuance. The ATM card comes with an additional Personal Accident Insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh.

Moreover, government employees under this scheme can enjoy unlimited transactions across all ATMs without additional charges. The package also includes attractive concessions on processing fees and interest rates for various retail loans, making it easier for employees to access credit for personal or housing needs.

This agreement is designed to deliver both convenience and financial protection to thousands of Tamil Nadu government workers. It also reinforces IOB’s ongoing commitment to expanding its services through strategic partnerships.

The SGSP reflects a growing trend of customised banking products for salaried segments, particularly in the public sector. By offering bundled financial services under one umbrella, IOB aims to simplify banking while supporting employee welfare across the state.
