The Mizoram government is taking decisive steps to enhance governance and streamline operations, with plans to remove underperforming state employees. The move is aimed at improving the management of ongoing projects.
The state’s chief minister, Lalduhoma, outlined these initiatives during a meeting in Aizawl, focused on reviewing the Education Department’s progress.
The state government has announced that departmental committees will evaluate the performance of state employees. Those deemed unqualified or unable to meet the required standards will be relieved from their positions as per established norms. This move aims to cultivate a skilled and efficient workforce, improving the quality of services delivered by the state administration.
A more rigorous approach to monitoring and executing state projects has been introduced. A state project monitoring committee has already reviewed approximately 40 ongoing projects, with plans for stricter oversight in the future. The government aims to ensure that all projects are implemented effectively, avoiding delays and inefficiencies.
Changes have also been made to how corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds are managed. Instead of individual departments overseeing CSR funds, these will now be centralised under the chief minister’s office. Furthermore, a dedicated CSR cell will monitor their utilisation, ensuring better accountability and alignment with state’s development goals.
The Mizoram government is also working to reduce reliance on Central funds, which often require significant state contributions. To avoid duplication and optimise resource allocation, all departmental proposals for Central projects will now be routed through the state planning department.
These measures underline Mizoram’s commitment to improving governance, enhancing accountability, and ensuring the efficient use of resources for sustainable development.
