While Wipro is prepping to hire about 10,000 freshers in the current fiscal 2025-26, based on the demand scenario, there is no talk of hiking the salary of freshers, which has remained unchanged for about a decade now.

During a post-earnings press conference, the management of Wipro reportedly communicated that the salary of freshers is decided on the basis of the market and industry environment. The company maintains that it pays competitive salaries to the freshers and there will be a hike when the market conditions change and allow for such an increment.

During the conference, Saurabh Govil, CHRO, Wipro reportedly said that in FY25 the company hired 10,000 freshers, in line with the target it had set. Govil also conveyed that the company will hire as per its growth only; that it has been hiring from campuses regularly and is careful not to overhire as it is committed to onboarding and deploying the freshers it hires.

Given the slow pace at which growth is happening presently, Govil reportedly admitted that the company needs to improve its utilisation level. It was revealed that attrition at Wipro stood at 15 per cent during March 2025, lower than the 15.3 per cent attrition reported in the previous quarter.

Wipro posted a 25.9 per cent increase in consolidated net profit, year-on-year with Q4 net profit being Rs 3,569.6 crore. The company added 614 employees in the January-March 2025 period, taking headcount to over 2.33 lakh.
