Gujarat will provide employment to many in the coming years. Tech Mahindra has announced its intentions to hire at least 3,000 people in the State over the next five years. The Indian information technology services company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to this effect, under its IT/ IT-enabled services (ITeS) policy
This MoU will allow Tech Mahindra to do the needful to smoothen business processes and meet the changing requirements of enterprises.
Till date, the Gujarat government has inked about 15 agreements with various companies from India as well as many global organisations under the IT/ITeS policy. If things go as planned, about 26,750 people can look forward to employment opportunities in the State.
If media reports are to be believed, Lulu Group International is also expected to invest thousands of crores in Gujarat, to set up the biggest shopping mall of the country in Ahmedabad. The construction of the UAE-based Lulu Group’s mall is expected to begin early next year.
When the Group set up its mall in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh in July 2022, it had invested about Rs 2,000 crore and expects to provide jobs to over 15,000 people directly and indirectly. Similar opportunities are expected to be created in Gujarat too.
That is not all. A joint venture between Foxconn (Taiwan’s electronics manufacturing company)and Vedanta the Indian metal-mining company will see the establishing of a semiconductor plant in Gujarat. The plant is expected to start production by 2025, creating more job opportunities.
