American technology company, Weave, has appointed Angie Balfour as its first chief people officer. Balfour, who was earlier heading human resources at Instagram, will now be shouldering the responsibility of leading the team-building strategy at Weave and supporting the Company’s world-class, diverse and inclusive culture.

Having spent five years as head of HR, Instagram, and as director-HR, Facebook, Balfour is eager to preserve the ‘people, not employees’ approach that is followed by Weave.
Balfour has also completed a long stint, of over 13 years (from 2000 to 2014), at Fairchild Semiconductor, first as a senior global human resources business partner and then as senior global HR manager. There, she strategically partnered with executives to provide effective organisational design, talent management, leadership development, change management, and other HR strategic initiatives. She also advised and influenced all levels of management on performance management, organisational development and effectiveness, and employee relations. She successfully mentored, managed and led the HR/training and development teams.

A graduate in human resource management from Utah State University, Balfour holds an MBA from the University of Utah.

Not long ago, Weave, the company that provides hardware and software solutions to help businesses grow, received a $70 million series D funding. Its valuation increased 3.2 times in a span of 10 months.

Balfour has joined the Company at a time when it is experiencing a growth spurt and has expanded its workforce from 300 to 650.
