    Debashish Roy is chief digital transformation officer, CEAT

    Roy was earlier associated with Pfizer as director and head-transformation, digital innovation and customer experience

    CEAT, the tyre-manufacturing company, has roped in Debashish Roy for the role of chief digital transformation officer.

    An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai, Debashish Roy comes with over 15 years of experience. He will report to Amit Tolani, chief executive, CEAT Specialty.

    Roy began his professional journey as an analyst with Cognizant Technology Solutions, Pune, in 2007. After two and a half years he moved to Zydus Cadila, as a management intern and then again to Texas Health and Human Services Commission, as healthcare consultant, working out of Texas.

    From April 2012 to December 2015, he served as senior management consultant, healthcare, Cognizant. For well over three years, he worked out of Bengaluru and Austin, Texas.

    His next stop was PwC, where he joined as senior associate-advisory services, in December 2015. Over a year into this role, he was elevated to engagement manager-management consulting / customer strategy.

    In 2018, he began his association with Abbott, as senior manager-strategic initiatives, digital innovation and partnerships. December of 2020 saw Debashish Roy promoted to head-digital health innovation.

    In October 2021 Roy joined Pfizer as director-digital transformation.Less than a year into this role he was elevated to director and head-transformation, digital innovation and customer experience.

    He has been on the advisory board of Viseven since March 2024.

    In his new assignment at CEAT, Roy will play a pivotal role in driving the company’s digital innovation, customer-centric initiatives and technological advancements.

    Roy, who holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering, has led multi-cultural teams across India, North America, Europe and Emerging Asia in executing transformation programmes for several Fortune 500 organisations.

    Amit Tolani, chief executive, CEAT Specialty, believes that Roy’s “extensive experience in digital transformation and innovation aligns perfectly with our vision to enhance customer experiences by driving technological advancement.” Tolani is confident that Roy’s “strategic vision and leadership will significantly contribute to CEAT’s growth and strengthen our market position in the industry.”

    Debashish Roy himself plans to focus “on innovating for a safer, better world by leveraging technology and empowering people. By connecting, collaborating, and delivering, I believe we can inspire and nurture the human spirit, building a strong foundation for sustainable growth and making CEAT a leader in digital innovation.”

    HRKatha wishes Debashish Roy all the best and hopes his unique blend of skills—in digital and IT strategy, data and analytics, programme management, product and process innovation, change management, ecosystem partnerships, omnichannel customer experience, new business models, and cross-functional team communication and management—will stand him in good stead.
