Joyeeta Chatterjee joins Future Consumer as chief people officer

Future Consumer has appointed Joyeeta Chatterjee as chief people officer. Chatterjee comes with a vast experience of 25 years in the HR function, and has worked across industries ranging from logistics, media, IT, telecom, pharma and construction. This assignment will Chatterjee’s first stint in the food retail sector.

Chatterjee has moved in from Punj Lloyd, an engineering procurement and construction company, where she was EVP-HR. Besides managing HR for a workforce of 9500, Chatterjee was also leading the CSR function for the group and played a key role in building an appreciative and a high performing culture.

Talking to HRKatha, Chatterjee says, “I will be heading the HR function as the chief people officer at Future Consumer which is the FMCG arm of Future Group. We have over 30 brands that we are selling in the market.”

After completing her Masters in personnel and business management from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management in 1994, she joined Blue Dart Express in the HR function. Next she worked with Business Standard and Xansa for two years each, before moving to Ranbaxy Laboratories in 2002.

At Ranbaxy she was heading the business HR function for the newly formed Global Consumer Healthcare business. She also had a short stint of eight months in the telecom industry working with Bharti Airtel as DGM – HR.

Post that she joined Nortel Networks where she was leading business HR function for 4000 employees in Asia, UK and Ireland.

Next, she ventured into the Pharma sector working with Jubilant Life Sciences and Sun Pharma. At Jubilant she was the global head of organisation training and development. After spending more than three years with Jubilant Life Sciences, Chatterjee moved to Sun Pharma as the director HR. She also served as the CHRO, South Asia at OLX group.

Chatterjee holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Delhi University. She is also a certified MBTI facilitator and CPI 360 coach.
