Rahul Taneja new group chief people officer, Jindal Steel and Power

Taneja has moved from Jet Airways, where he served as the chief people officer for less than four years.

Rahul Taneja has been appointed as the group chief people officer of Jindal Steel and Power, with the responsibility of leading the HR function for the Company. He has replaced Rajeev Bhadauria, who was the former group director-HR, Jindal Steel and Power.

Prior to this, Taneja was leading the HR function at Jet Airways, which shut down its operations in April, 2019.

Taneja has an experience of 28 years serving in multiple roles, including business head, marketing engineer, area manager and director-HR.

Before joining Jet Airways in 2016, Taneja was senior VP and head-corporate HR, Essar, from February, 2008 to January, 2016. He has also worked with Dell for less than two years, first as director-talent acquisition and then as director-human resources.

After completing his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, Taneja joined Mahindra and Mahindra as marketing engineer. He has worked in various industries, such as manufacturing, airlines, telecommunications, and technology.

An MBA from the Xavier Institute of Management, Taneja also holds a bachelor’s in engineering from the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology.

Having vast experience in recasting HR and business processes, right sizing and cost optimisation, Taneja has also led change management and cultural transformation, organisation redesign and restructuring.

He has successfully led change initiatives across different cultures and geographies, such as the Middle East, UK, Europe, South East Asia, China, Kenya and the United States. He is also adept at handling mergers and acquisition, and has demonstrated crisis-management capabilities while leading complex businesses in challenging industries.
