Rohit Sandal moves from Dell to Lenovo as HR Head, India

The erstwhile HR head for Lenovo India, Subhankar Roy Chowdhury has taken over as global head HR strategy, M&A and analytics.

Rohit Sandal, HR director, Dell has moved to Lenovo. He has joined in as the HR head for India operations.

Sandal has taken over from Subhankar Roy Chowdhury, who has now moved to a global role as global head HR strategy, M&A and analytics.

An alumnus of Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Pune, Sandal will be based out of Lenovo’s Bengaluru office and lead Lenovo’s human resources strategy and operations in India.

Even at Dell, where he spent around 11 years, Sandal managed the human resources function for the IT major’s Bengaluru, Gurgaon and Noida operations.

He joined Dell as compensation & benefits (C&B) manager in May 2004, but rose up to become the CEB director in a few years’ time. At Dell, he was instrumental in supporting the company’s growth in India.

Prior to Dell, Sandal worked with Mercer Consulting where he had two stints. First between 1998 and 2000 when he spent two years as consultant and later for a little more than a year in 2003-04, when he joined as senior consultant. In between, he spent a year at Agilent Technologies as C&B manager.

He comes with a proven track record in leading employee engagement, employee relations and HR transformation projects across various business lines.

On Sandal’s appointment, Amar Babu, managing director, Lenovo India, says, “People have always played a critical part in Lenovo’s success across the globe.
