    Sandip Ghose reappointed MD & CEO; Board of Birla Corporation approves

    Sandip Ghose has been reappointed as managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO), MP Birla Cement, for three years. This reappointment has been approved by the Board of Birla Corporation.

    Ghose has brought about transformative changes in the organisation and was responsible for scaling up of the Mukutban operations. He has been MD and CEO since January 2023 and a board member since December2022.

    An alumnus of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Sandip Ghose began his professional journey with a two-year articleship at Ernst & Young, in 1980.

    He then moved to ITC as finance trainee in 1982.

    The year 1983 saw Sandip Ghose begin his association with Unilever, as management trainee, based out of Kolkata. A little over a year and a half into this role, he was elevated to commercial manager, working out of Pune. March of 1998 saw him relocating to Bengaluru on being promoted to corporate management accountant-Liptons.

    By April 1989, he moved to Mumbai to take up the role of senior purchasing manager-detergents, Unilever.

    From 1994 to 1996, he worked with Kimberly-Clark Lever (India) as chief financial officer (CFO).

    In October of 1996, he was appointed regional manager-North (foods), Unilever, working out of New Delhi. Two years later, he was elevated to managing director-Nepal.

    Ghose’s next stop was ABP Group, where he joined as business head, The Telegraph and Businessworld.

    The year 2005 was witness to Sandip Ghose playing SVP, HT Media. More than two and a half years later,he moved to LafargeHolcim, as senior vice president, Lafarge India. This stin lasted over eight years after which he joined MP Birla Cement, in 2015.

    Over two and a half years into his role as executive president-sales, marketing and logistics, MP Birla Cement elevated him to executive president- sales, marketing, logistics, IT and corporate strategy & development, in 2018. By April of 2019, he had become the chief operating officer of the company.

    He played a key role in the integration of Birla Corporation and RCCPL and was the main architect of the brand premiumisation strategy of MP Birla Cement.

    He has been chairman of the board of eXlygenze SenseWorks from 2020 to 2021.

    He served as a thinkfluencer for Tigerhall, a learning-on-the-go platform, sharing his expertise via podcasts, power reads and events for the platform, based out of Singapore.

    Sandip Ghose is a certified professional coach form the International Coach Federation. An avid writer and blogger, he is a strategic advisor to the Centre for Public Policy Research. He is also a strategic advisor to Inversion Management Services since 2020.

    He has been on the board of MP Birla Cement since December 2022. Now, the board has entrusted him to lead the next wave of growth and expansion of the Company.
