Unacademy, an edtech platform, has elevated Vivek Sinha as chief operating officer. In his new role, Sinha will lead the business verticals of Test Preparation (India Business), K-12, and Careers.
Additionally, Sinha will also be responsible for central capability functions, such as inside sales, business development, business operations, content & academics, and user growth.
Sinha joined Unacademy in September 2020 as SVP, Test Preparation Business. He has held leadership positions in companies across consumer Internet, fintech and real estate.
Sinha started his career with Reliance Energy in 2008 as part of the strategy and business development team. After working for four years at the firm, Sinha decided to pursue his higher education and completed his MBA from the Indian School of Business. After that, he joined the Lodha Group in the procurement and supply chain department. At Lodha Group, he handled complex supply chain scenarios involving demand-supply matchmaking, with almost 60 demand locations and 800 supplier locations.
After three years with Lodha, Sinha moved on to take up the role of COO at Buildbazaar, a home building startup. He was also a co-founder of the company. In 2016, Sinha joined MobiKwik as VP and business head, payments business. He was involved in building the offline payments business at the company from scratch, which included categories, such as grocery, fashion, consumer durables, consumer electronics, food and dining, healthcare, fitness and wellness, automobile, oil and gas and taxi and cabs. He also built the unorganised retail business from scratch to 20,00,000 merchant partners at Mobikwik.
In 2018, Sinha moved to OYO as VP and business head for franchisee business and then moved on to lead the luxury hotels business for OYO.
Sinha holds a BTech degree in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur.
