Vedanta ESL has promoted Ravish Sharma to the position of deputy CEO and whole-time director. Sharma, a veteran in the metals industry, brings over 20 years of experience. He has been with Vedanta since 2021, as its chief operating officer (COO).
Sharma’s association with Vedanta goes back to 2005. During his tenure at Vedanta, Sharma has held leadership roles across multiple businesses, including Bharat Aluminium Company, Hindustan Zinc, and ESL Steel.
His expertise spans smelting, engineering, health and safety (HSE), business excellence, stakeholder management, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). His efforts have consistently driven growth and improved operational performance. Safety has been a key focus throughout his career, with Sharma prioritising high workplace safety standards.
He first joined Bharat Aluminium Company in 2005 as its head maintenance-smelter. Sharma held this role for over 11 years before moving to Hindustan Zinc in 2016. He first joined the company as its head-department mechanical. After holding many key positions during his tenure of five years, he was promoted to the role of strategic business units (SBU) director and head- silver in 2020.
Commenting on his new role, Sharma expressed his enthusiasm saying, “Leading the Integrated Steel Plant at
Bokaro is both an honour and a privilege. My journey with Vedanta has been deeply rewarding, and I am eager to work with our team to improve operational performance, pursue sustainable growth, and create value for stakeholders,” he stated.
Sharma holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyalaya.
