London-based Vedanta Resources has appointed Deshnee Naidoo as chief executive officer.

She was earlier chief executive officer, Vale Base Metals, working out of Toronto.

Naidoo began her professional journey with Anglo Platinum, where she held various technical positions from 1998 to 2003 before being elevated to strategic long-term planning manager in February of 2003. Her next promotion came in 2005, which made her corporate finance manager, a role she played for over three years.

After a successful tenure of over a decade at Anglo Platinum, Naidoo joined Anglo American. She joined as deputy head-CEO’s office, in June 2009. She was based out of South Africa for over two years lending support to the office of the group CEO. August of 2011 saw her being elevated to CFO-Anglo American Thermal Coal. Over five and a half years later, she decided to be a mining advisor for a while, before taking up the position of director-finance and business development (base metals), Vale. A year into this role, she was elevated to executive vice president-base metals, working out of Toronto, Canada. In January 2023 she was appointed CEO, Vale Base Metals. After a break of ten months from April 2024, Deshnee Naidoo has now returned to Vedanta Group, as CEO of Vedanta Resources.
