Wipro, the tech services and consulting company, has elevated Omkar Nisal to the position of chief executive officer, Europe Strategic Market Unit (SMU). He will also be part of the Wipro Executive Board.
Till now, Nisal was managing director, UK and Ireland, and member of the Wipro Executive Committee.
Nisal, who holds a BTech in computer science has spent over 16 years of his career with Tata Consultancy Services, from 1995 to 2011. He joined TCS as programme director, Project Quantum, in 1995. Nine years later, he was elevated to product development head-TCS BaNCS Compliance. In 2007, he became global head presales-TCS BaNCS. The last three years of his TCS stint were spent playing global product head-TCS BaNCS.
Interestingly, Nisal continues to be a deep technologist at heart, having applied for patents in the areas of Channels, AML, and fraud detection.
His association with Wipro began in January, 2012 having joined as general manager-business transformation, based out of Bangalore. Less than two years later, he was elevated to vice president and head-BFSI strategy office. July of 2014 saw him relocating to London, as vice president and global client partner.
By September 2018, he was elevated to vice president and banking head-UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Another promotion in 2019 put him in the position of senior vice president and head-banking MEA. From 2021 to 2024, he was managing director –UK and Ireland, as well as member, Wipro Executive Committee, managing a regional P&L of over a billion dollars..
In February of 2022, he became director Wipro. Since August 2022 he has been playing part-time director, attune, a Rizing company, based out of London. Nisal has also been part-time director, Capco for almost three years now. Omkar Nisal has also been board chair for Wipro Financial Outsourcing Services for almost two years.
In this new role as CEO Europe Strategic Market Unit, Wipro, Nisal will step into the shoes of Pierre Bruno, who is stepping down, and will report to Srini Pallia, CEO and MD.

In this role Nisal is expected to use a “strong customer-centric approach” that “will help build a resilient and adaptable organisation poised for sustainable growth in the region.”
