Employees of Maharashtra’s Revenue Department commenced an indefinite strike on Monday, 15 July 2024.The department has been demanding the implementation of a new employment pattern without any job losses.

The strike is expected to disrupt several key services, including the registration for the state’s flagship “Mazi Ladki Bahin Yojana.” It provides eligible women with Rs 1,500 per month. Additionally, the processing of crop insurance schemes is likely to be affected.

According to a statement from various employee unions, revenue employees from across the state have joined the strike. The statement emphasised that the union wishes for the state government to implement the new employment pattern without removing any current employees. Until then, they have decided to cease their daily work and will not resume duties until all the demands are met.

The employees claim they have previously submitted petitions to the government outlining their demands, but no action has been taken.
