What are employers across the world doing to ensure gender equality? Manpower Group’s employment outlook survey for Q1 of 2025 assesses the equitable gender recruitment and retention practices based on interviews with 40,413 public and private employers across 42 countries.
So what is driving progress in gender equality in recruitment and retention? Well, 53 per cent of the employers are building trusting relationships with teams, while 51 per cent are effectively supporting employee well-being. A significant 48 per cent are implementing policies to ensure equal career-development opportunities, while 46 per cent are offering support to employees caring for children, or sick/elderly adults. A good 46 per cent are tracking promotion outcomes for employee programmes and 45 per cent are mentoring and training employees across different working models. Forty-five per cent are auditing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies and programmes, while 44 per cent are recognising employees for fostering DEI efforts.
A good 44 per cent of employers are measuring the use and impact of flexibility policies, while 43 per cent are analysing DEI challenges to find solutions.
Forty-three per cent of the employers believe that proactively communicating with teams across different work models has helped drive progress in gender equality in hiring and retention.
