EaseMyTrip is all set to hire at least 500 interns over the next three to six months, under a Central government scheme announced in the Union Budget. With this move, the New Delhi-based Indian online travel company hopes to support the Indian government’s goal of developing the skills of over 10 million youth and making them employable. In fact, EaseMyTrip is the first company to show its support to the internship scheme announced in the Union Budget.
Nishant Pitti, CEO and co-founder, EaseMyTrip, has announced this internship plan on social-media platform, X, after he attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Journey Towards Viksit Bharat: A Post Union Budget 2024-25’ Conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). In his post he indicates that more details of the initiative will be provided soon.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had revealed during her Budget speech that over the next five years, the Central government will introduce a scheme to provide internship opportunities for Indian youth in the top 500 companies of India.
The interns will be granted a stipend of Rs 5,000 per month along with a one-time aid of Rs 6,000. The corporate social responsibility (CSR) wings of these organisations will bear the cost of training the interns.
EastMyTrip’s plan to hire interns is in line with the Centre’s vision and also aligns with the company’s expansion plans. The internships will not only empower the youth of India, but will also help make the travel ecosystem grow and innovate.
