IIM-Tiruchi starts new PGPM in HR; begins academic year online

The Director of the Institute revealed that these online classes will continue until normalcy returns

IIM-Tiruchi welcomed its newly enrolled students of management at an online inauguration programme held recently. The Institution has decided to begin the year by taking all classes online until the lockdown ceases. This year, the Tiruchirapalli IIM has also begun with its first batch of post- graduate management programme in human resources (PGPM-HR).

The induction was held for the incoming tenth batch of the post graduate programme in management (PGPM), the eight batch of the fellow programme in management and the first batch of PGPM-HR, the classes for which began on August 10.

Bhimaraya Metri, director, IIM-Tiruchi, in his address, highlighted the importance of HR in today’s context, and stated that professionals and students need to develop their people-management skills to keep up with the demand of the times. Emphasising on the need for HR in today’s world, he went on to mention that it was important for the institution to begin a course for the same.

Gauthami Tadimalla, actor and founder, Life Again foundation, was the chief guest, and spoke on the importance of HR management while Pushp Joshi, director-HR, HPCL, highlighted the importance of learning and development, especially experiential learning to stay relevant.

Also present during the programme were Upam Pushpak Makhecha, chairperson, PGPM – HR, Sivakumar S, chairperson-PGPM and Sujeet Kumar Sharma, chairperson, Fellow Programme and Research.

Metri mentioned that they would continue with online classes until normalcy returns. IIM-Tiruchi had already commenced with its executive MBA classes in May.
