To support its ambitious expansion in India, Alstom, a French multinational company, is seeking to grow its workforce to 500-550 employees by the end of the current year. The move is in line with the company’s primary focus on manufacturing its signalling components within the country.
Over the next three years, Alstom plans to produce 15 per cent of its signalling components in India, with the design work taking place at its Hyderabad facility in Telangana. The company is actively seeking partnerships with local manufacturers for the production process.
The company also has a long-term plan to further expand the employee count to 700 over the next three years.
Company’s commitment to this expansion is evident in the launch of its largest centre of excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, which will specifically focus on signalling technologies and system integration for global rail-mobility projects.
This strategic move comes on the heels of Alstom’s successful implementation of the European Train Control System (ETCS) signalling system in India’s inaugural regional rapid transit system (RRTS) in October 2023. The innovative technology promises increased efficiency in India’s rail networks, optimising capacity utilisation.
As part of its broader vision, Alstom is actively engaged in 19 ongoing projects in India, including the second phase of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), and a portfolio of 62 global projects. The company’s commitment extends beyond project execution, as it aims to enhance its signalling projects and research and development (R&D) footprint in Delhi from the current 100 employees to an ambitious 700 within the next three to five years.
Alstom’s comprehensive approach not only strengthens its global presence but also signifies a substantial investment in India’s rail infrastructure development.
