Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has finally announced the grant of 4.8 per cent dearness allowance (DA) to its employees. The same had been pending since July of 2023. The DA will be paid to the employees along with their October salary.
This was the last of the nine pending DA instalments that were sanctioned since 2019. The announcement regarding the DA grant was made by VC Sajjanar, managing director, TSRTC.
Sajjanar acknowledged the hard work of the TSRTC staff and the crucial role they play in transporting passengers safely.
Early last month, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan had approved the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (Absorption of Employees into Government Service) Bill 2023,following which 43,000 employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will now be treated as part state government staff.
The Bill had been passed by the state legislative assembly on 4 August, following which certain recommendations were made. The Governor had sought certain clarifications on the same and had recommended 10 points for the overall welfare of the staff. One of her recommendations was that the Corporation itself be the sole and exclusive owner of the assets, lands and properties of TSRTC even after its employees become government staff and part of RTC.
After the 10 recommendations were satisfactorily addressed, the Governor had given her consent to the same on 14 September 2023.
