Infosys employees have been reportedly directed to be present in the office for a minimum of three days per week. In an official mail, employees have received the message from their vertical heads to commence working in the office for a minimum of three days each week. The rule will soon be mandatory for all.
This compulsory instruction follows several appeals from management to reinstate normal office schedules, as compliance with remote work requests was reportedly low.
Highlighting disappointment with the limited compliance to calls for returning to the office, the email underscored that the three-year work-from-home arrangement post-Covid was satisfactory. It also clarified that, aside from medical reasons, employees are mandated to resume working from the physical office.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, qualifying Infosys employees had the flexibility to engage in remote work for up to nine days per month. If put into effect, this recent directive will reinstate the attendance system that was in place before the lockdown prompted by the pandemic in early 2020.
While making attendance compulsory, the company has also re-introduced fees for its bus services. The charges are set at Rs 150 per day, with a monthly limit of Rs 1,500, beginning 3 January of the upcoming year. Likewise, starting 1 January, 2024, health club facilities will have a daily fee of Rs 100, capped at Rs 700 per month.
Reportedly, dissatisfaction within the management has arisen due to the underutilisation of the company’s delivery units (DUs). Consequently, there is a push for employees to promptly return to campuses housing offshore development centres (ODCs) for clients.
