The starting annual salary of the new recruits would be around Rs 8.56 lakh per annum.
The State Bank of India will hire 2,400 probationary officers (POs) through a selection process, which will include online tests, group discussions and interviews.
The entry-level recruits will work in the personal banking, rural banking, credit, forex and treasury departments.
Their starting annual salary would be around Rs 8.56 lakh per annum. The employees will get around 60 per cent of the salary as cash and the rest as lease rental and other benefits depending on the city they are posted in.
Potential candidates need to have a degree and should be in the age group of 21–30 years. A general category candidate can apply for this job only four times.
As per industry estimates, around 4 lakh senior officers are expected to retire from PSU banks in the next 3-4 years. Given the fact that recruitment of POs was almost frozen for the last few years at Indian PSUs, this is expected to create a vacuum at the middle and senior levels. Normally, new recruits at PSUs take a minimum of 15 years to reach the AGM level in Indian banks.
