The general administration department of Jammu and Kashmir, has issued a notification approving three days of special casual leave for employees of the Jammu division stationed in the Kashmir Valley. The decision comes amidst the fervour of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state.
With the electoral code of conduct in full swing across the nation, and the first phase of elections slated for 19 April, various state governments have announced general, public and paid holidays for the voting day.
Following suit, the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have sanctioned three days of special casual leave for employees stationed in the Kashmir Valley during the Lok Sabha elections.
According to the directives laid out by the department, employees assigned for election duties on 19 April for the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat are required to work from 18 April to 20 April.
Similarly, those engaged for the 26 April elections for the Jammu Parliamentary seat will work from 25 April to 27 April. Additionally, employees designated for the 7 May elections for the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary seat will be granted three days of special casual leave from 6 May to 8 May.
Given that the voting process in Jammu and Kashmir spans five phases, the provision of three days of special casual leave for displaced Kashmiri employees. These individuals will be stationed in Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag, and will have the opportunity to exercise their franchise at special polling stations.
