The Government of Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar redevelopment projects hopes to transform the crowded Gandhi Nagar market into a global brand. This, in turn, will generate jobs for about 40,000 people, according to Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s tweet.

The market will be redeveloped as per global standards, for which shop owners have been requested to fill up online survey forms. These forms require them to put in details about the nature of their business, the number of customers that visit on a daily basis, number of employees, the age group of customers and so on.

The other markets that will be developed and turned into model markets under similar redevelopment projects are: — Kamla Nagar, Khari Baoli, Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar and Kirti Nagar.

As per the Annual Budget 2022-23 of the Delhi Government, various retail markets across the capital will be redeveloped and transformed into tourist destinations and generate employment for lakhs of job seekers.

Meanwhile, the Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC) of Delhi is on the lookout for enthusiasted fresh graduates who are willing to intern as researchers for these redevelopment projects. These interns will have to work for eight to 24 weeks and should not be older than 35 as of 11 July 2022.

These interns will also get the opportunity to work on the Delhi Shopping Festival project as well as the the Rozgaar portal.

Research fellows are also being sought by the State’s transport department to help the state government design policies around making Delhi more e-vehicle-friendly.
