OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT, is actively recruiting AI professionals from Google. The company is reportedly offering compensation packages as high as $10 million to attract top talent, adopting a comprehensive approach to lure talent. This includes providing substantial financial incentives and granting access to state-of-the-art technological resources, such as AI accelerator chips, to entice leading researchers from the tech giant.
OpenAI has previously also hired professionals from both Google and Meta. The professionals recruited included 93 individuals who once worked at Google and Meta. As of February, 59 of these individuals were from Google, while 34 were from Meta.
Furthermore, Bloomberg had earlier revealed that OpenAI was considering an employee share sale, estimating the company’s value at an impressive $86 billion. This prospective financial gain comes on the heels of OpenAI’s share sale in April, when the company’s value was assessed between $27 billion and $29 billion, according to TechCrunch.
OpenAI is currently bolstering its workforce by advertising a job opening for a research engineer, with an annual salary ranging from $245,000 to $450,000. The job listing underscores the inclusion of ‘generous equity’ and additional benefits as integral components of the overall compensation package.
OpenAI is an artificial intelligence research lab focused on developing and promoting friendly AI. Founded in December 2015, it has produced advanced language models such as GPT-3 and aims to ensure that artificial general intelligence (AGI) benefits all of humanity while avoiding uses that could harm humanity or concentrate power.
