As per an order by the Tamil Nadu government, shops with at least 10 employees will now be allowed to remain open 24×7 throughout the year, provided they adhere to certain conditions. Women employees working in shifts will have to be given transport facility as well as all basic amenities. For all women staff, the outer limit to remain at work would be 8 p.m. However, if a woman employee gives her written consent and also receives adequate assurance of safety and protection from her employers, she may work from eight in the evening to six in the morning.

All women workers will have to be provided all basic facilities, including rest rooms, wash rooms, and lockers.

An order was issued to this effect by the Tamil Nadu government.
?As per the Tamil Nadu Shops and Establishments Act 1947, all shops and establishments with a minimum staff strength of 10 can remain open 24 x7 for 365 days, for a period of three years, starting 28 May.??Each staff member will get a day’s leave by turn. Also, their wages and overtime wages will be credited to their bank accounts directly. However, no staff member will be allowed to put in more than eight hours of work a day and 48 hours of work every week.

No employee will be allowed to work more than 10.5 hours a day inclusive of overtime, and 57 hours a week. Any instances of non-compliance or violation will invite penal action.
